Things to do in London in December 2019

London in December is a magical place with loads of festive activities to take part in as locals and tourists celebrate Christmas and New Years Eve.

The streets are lined with sparkles and Christmas lights as people make the most of some of the best shopping the world has to offer. Trafalgar Square is full of the sounds of Christmas with its annual carol services and is also home to the largest Christmas tree in the city.

Here at London Weekend Breaks we have put together for you some of the must do activities over December in the big smoke!

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park

From 21 November 2019 to 05 January 2020

One event not to be missed by anyone visiting London in December is Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. London’s biggest Christmas event featuring two different Christmas markets. The UK’s largest ice skating rink, a Christmas circus, carnival rides and games. There’s even an ice sculpture kingdom, live music and entertainment, and enough food and drink chalets to really get you in the Christmas spirit.

Begin the evening at the Christmas markets which are home to around 200 vendors. Selling items such as jewellery, handmade crafts, clothing, quirky accessories and as many sweets as you can imagine! The stalls are set up inside quaint wooden chalets decorated to give Hyde Park a beautiful Christmas vibe and if your lucky you can expect some snow!

There are all sorts of bars and restaurants around Winter Wonderland, all with their own unique atmosphere and culinary dishes. I don’t think you can make a bad choice here. With the theme very heavy on Germany you can expert big bratwursts followed by a warm glass of mulled warm to keep you going through the night.

After you’ve warmed your bellies up with some delicious food it’s time to take part in one of the many activities available in Winter Wonderland. Grab your skates and join others as you glide across the biggest skating rink in the UK. Go on a journey through the past, present and future Christmas in the Magical Ice Kingdom presents A Christmas Carol. Ride a traditional carousel or brave the giant loops of nine different rollercoasters at the fairground.

So put this on your Christmas wish list this year on a London Weekend Break, with free entry into the park it’s a great day out with friends and family!
